Outlaws Head to Jacksonville
July 11
Round 1 of WFA Playoffs
The Outlaws are beginning their preparation to meet the Dixie Blues in Round 1 of the WFA playoffs. The Outlaws will make the long trip to Jacksonville, FL over the weekend of July 11.

The Dixie Blues are currently 8-0 clinching their division title with a win over the Gulf Coast Riptide on Saturday. They are known for their quickness and their passing game, but the Outlaws are confident that this is no match for the "Darkside" defense that has played so well this season.

The Outlaws offense will count on the size and strength of our front line to open the holes for our powerful running game.

Week 8 - Game Recap

The Outlaws bring home another win. Playing their last regular season game at home, the Outlaws defeated the H'Town Cyclones 29-7 on Saturday. The drives were extremely long on both sides of the ball with both teams putting together several 7-8 minute drives. The Outlaws scored on both of their first half drives with a rushing touchdown by Monica Gauck in the first quarter, a missed extra point, and then Shadana Hurd scored on a pass from Monica just before the half to head into the locker room at halftime with the score at 13-0.

The Outlaw defense remained strong during the first half Houston drives stopping them twice in the redzone. The tough defense continued all game with 2 interceptions by rookie DBs DeeAnn Thomas and Charmeine "Awesome Possom" Jackson - one in the first half and one about halfway into the second half.

In the second half, the offense made several big pushes. Monica Gauck scored on a QB keeper play from about 8 yards out, and running back Stevie Ammerman got her first touchdown of the season early in the fourth quarter on a great run through the middle.

Playoffs - Looking Ahead

This win puts the Southwest Division Champion Outlaws at 7-1 . The Outlaws now have a two week break before traveling to Jacksonville for the first round of the WFA playoffs. Jacksonville will be a tough opponent for the Outlaws, as they are 8-0 in their division and reportedly are one of the top teams to beat in the league.

If the Outlaws win in Jacksonville, there is a good chance that they will be back home for the 2nd round of the playoffs on July 25th, so stay tuned to the website to get more info on all the upcoming playoff news.

Get the inside scoop... Learn more about your favorite Outlaws
As the season gets closer, we'll hear from the coaches about what they are seeing on the field and how they think the season is developing.

We'll get some insignt into their thoughts about the team, our opponents and our strategy.

All of the coaches are anxious to get started and are buisily preparing playbooks for the first week of practice in January.
Monica was in obvious distress. Hurting in her chest - later xrays showed she had cracked a rib. Having trouble breathing with an apparent asthma attack.

Paramedics were giving her oxygen at half-time. Coach pulled her out of the game for her health. With only fifteen players on the team, in the Outlaw's early years, losing even one player put a strain on the rest. A few plays later Monica was back in the huddle. She'd sneaked back into the game...Read More

Centex Girls Flag Football

The Centex Girls Flag Football league in Leander and Cedar Park will end their inaugural season this Friday - May 22nd at the Cedar Park High School Football Stadium. There will be 2 games at 6:30pm and 8:00pm with games, activities, free food, and autographs by retired NFL Offensive Lineman Mike Rosenthal. The Outlaws are so proud to be able to support these girls in their quest to have girls flag football someday be an available UIL sport for girls all over Texas. (Of course we also hope that some of them will someday proudly to wear Outlaw jerseys).

Celebration of Families Focus on Fitness

The Outlaws really enjoyed their Saturday at the Celebration of Families at the Palmer Event Center on May 2. About 15 Outlaws did a toss the ball game and gave away Outlaw stuff. The team also tried something new this year, and took pictures with the fans, printed them and autographed them on the spot. I'm sure we'll do much more of that in the future.
In the summer of 2000, professional women's full contact football was introduced to Austin, Texas. The announcement of professional NFL style tryouts drew hundreds of local female athletes who braved 110-degree heat to see if they had the right stuff.

2001 laid the foundation for Austin Outlaws. The young and hungry team played six games in venues all across the nation and won all but one, losing by only one touchdown in overtime. The Outlaws had made their mark!
