The Austin Outlaws Women’s Professional Football Team will travel to the Houston Power this Saturday, April 11th, 2015 and will play at Pioneer Stadium located at 12555 Ryewater Dr, Houston, TX 77089. This game marks the opening game of the 2015 season, with the home opener for the Outlaws set for April 25th at Dragon Stadium in Round Rock, TX.
This season marks a historic event for the Outlaws. A rarity in women’s football, the Outlaws enter their 15th season as a team. Only 2 other teams in the nation and history of the sport (one now defunct) can boast this accomplishment. “We’ve started the offseason playing around with the hashtag #15YrsStrong.. but now we’ve adopted it as our motto for the season because that’s the message we’re sending to any and all on our team. We’re here, we’ll be here, we got each other” explains Assistant General Manager Malia Capers-Cristobal.
While this is the first game for the 2015 season, the Outlaws have already battled their opponent the Power in a pre-season scrimmage during a torrential downpour in downtown Houston. The scrimmage was a success by coaching standards, and both teams are eager to finish where they left off. “We’re confident the conditions we experienced in the scrimmage only helped prepare us for the toughness and followthrough necessary to compete in a season opener against a good opponent” states Head Coach Narlen Baker.
